JEDDAH, 25 June — The Council of Ministers meeting here yesterday under the chairmanship of Prince Abdullah, the regent, approved the new reshuffled board of directors of Saudi Arabian Airlines.
The board chaired by Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, includes Prince Fahd ibn Abdullah, assistant minister for civil aviation affairs, Dr. Khaled Bakr, Saudia’s director general, and Dr. Ali Al-Khalaf, head of the Presidency for Civil Aviation.
Other board members are: Dr. Muhammad Al-Jasir, deputy governor of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, Abdullah Al-Muqbil, deputy communications minister for road affairs, Abdullah Al-Hamoudi, deputy minister for external trade, Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy, chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Meshaiqeh, chairman of the Qassim Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Osama Kurdi, secretary-general of the Council of Saudi Chambers.
Referring to Middle East peace, the Cabinet expressed optimism that the ongoing US efforts would help bring about a just and comprehensive peace settlement, satisfying the interests of all parties. It welcomed the EU summit’s call for establishing a Palestinian state on the territories occupied by Israel since 1967.
The Cabinet stressed the need for ending the suffering of the Palestinian people to ensure peace and stability all over the world. Prince Abdullah, meanwhile, discussed with Palestine President Yasser Arafat by telephone the renewed Israeli military escalation in Palestinian areas.
The Cabinet excluded expatriate house servants from the regulation of returning to the Kingdom within a specific period after departure. It passed a new law for commercial statements.
According to the law, such statements should be in Arabic and carry all details of products imported, including date and place of production.
The Cabinet also agreed on the Saudi share in the increased capital of the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank. It reduced the annual license fees of manual fishing boats from SR100 to SR50 and automatic boats from SR300 to SR50.
