RIYADH, 21 July — Prince Ahmad ibn Salman, secretary-general of the Prince Fahd ibn Salman Charitable Society for the Care of Kidney Patients, has commended the humanitarian gesture of Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, in alleviating the suffering of kidney patients.
"We appreciate your royal highness’ continuing humanitarian activities, especially in the health sector," Prince Ahmad said in a cable to Prince Sultan. "The new full-fledged kidney center ordered by your royal highness to be established at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh at your personal expense will contribute greatly to health care services in the Kingdom," Prince Ahmad said in his cable.
"On behalf of myself and all the staff of Prince Fahd ibn Salman Charitable Society for the Care of Kidney Patients, I once again extend my profound thanks and deep appreciation to your royal highness for this humanitarian gesture," Prince Ahmad said.
The new kidney center "reflects your royal highness’ humanitarian feelings and deep faith in the effect of these noble endeavors in alleviating the suffering of this group of patients, who are very much in need of support and care," the cable said.
Prince Sultan had donated SR19 million for setting up a full-fledged center for kidney patients at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh.
Maj. Gen. Khalaf Al-Motairy, director of the hospital, said the new center, designed to treat 140 kidney patients daily, will have outpatient clinics, 70 dialysis units and other advanced medical facilities.
