RIYADH, 20 August — Four men died in the southern Asir province after drinking eau de cologne containing poisonous methanol, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday.

The deaths took place last week in Ballsamer city, just north of the province’s capital, Abha, and police seized dozens of bottles containing cologne, the paper said.

The nationality of the dead was not mentioned.

In June, 19 people died in Makkah and Jizan, and 17 others fell ill in critical condition, some blinded, after drinking poisonous cologne.
