RIYADH, 4 October — Lt. Gen. Mahmoud ibn Mohammed Bakhsh has been appointed director general of the general investigations department, in place of Gen. Saleh Khosaifan, who retired this week.
Interior Minister Prince Naif made the new appointment. "I deem this appointment as a great honor and I’m aware of my great responsibility as in-charge of this vital security agency," Bakhsh said.
Meanwhile, Prince Ahmad, deputy interior minister, denied foreign agency reports that Khosaifan was retired in the wake of a series of bomb blasts."There is no relation between Khosaifan’s retirement and the blasts," Prince Ahmad told Okaz daily. He commended the services rendered by the former investigations chief."He has been appointed adviser at the Royal Court by the king. We are proud of him and appreciate his services over the years," the prince said.
