RIYADH, 5 October — Abdul Rahman Al-Zamil, chairman of Saudi Exports Development Center’s (SEDC) executive council, has highlighted the significance of setting up an independent authority to promote the Kingdom’s industrial, agricultural and commercial exports.

He told Arab News that the Commerce Ministry’s move to establish a separate department for exports would hamper the efforts to set up such an authority. "Instead of setting up exports departments by the ministries of commerce, industry and agriculture, it would be better to establish an independent authority, with a board of directors representing all of them," he added.

Zamil pointed out that the Shoura Council had recommended such an authority.
