JEDDAH, 10 October — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, will lay the foundation stone for a new industrial city in Jubail next week.
The new city is expected to attract private investments worth SR50 billion and create more than 20,000 new jobs.
The foundation will be laid during Prince Abdullah’s inspection tour of the Eastern Province, which begins on Saturday.
He will also inaugurate a number of development projects in the region including roads, bridges, parks and water projects, and lay the foundation stone for King Fahd Industrial Port’s expansion project.
According to a report carried by Okaz daily, the crown prince would also commission the expansion projects of Jubail Petrochemical Company, Saudi-European Petrochemical Company,
Arab Petrochemical Company, Saudi Iron and Steel Company.
He will lay the foundation for the United Petrochemical Company (United), Saudi Olefines Company, SABIC Technical Center and Jubail Technical Institute.
The expansion of King Fahd Industrial Port will be carried out at a cost of SR1.4 billion, the paper said.
The project includes construction of a number of wharves, a petrochemical port and an electricity power plant.
The Fanatir recreation center, to be opened by the crown prince, covers an area of three kilometers.
