MAKKAH, 12 October — The 24th session of King Abdul Aziz International Contest of Holy Qur’an Memorization , Recitation and Explanation will start here today.
The nine-day contest is being organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance at Makkah InterContinental Hotel. The ministry said 188 participants from 25 Arab and Muslim countries, and 71 Islamic centers and organizations will compete for top honors.
The contest seeks to promote Holy Qur’an memorization and recitation worldwide. Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Al-Sheikh pointed out that the ministry is carrying out such efforts to serve Islam and spread awareness among Muslim youth in the Kingdom and abroad.
“The contest is signified in that it attracts a large number of youth from the Muslim World to gather in one place to compete in the memorization, recitation and explanation of the Holy Qur’an,” he added. (SPA)
