JEDDAH, 26 October — Police in Jeddah arrested an Asian expatriate worker for allegedly making official stamps of government and security departments and selling them to forgers at the rate of SR500 per piece.
The arrest comes less than a week after security officers held another expatriate worker for forging stamps and documents of the Finance Ministry, Jeddah Municipality and private hospitals.
The Asian worker used his work place, a private press, to make forged stamps. Police received information about him after the arrest of an Arab involved in forging government and bank documents.
Maj. Gen. Saleh Al-Belaihed, director of the Passports Department in the Makkah region, told Arab News that the Asian and the Arab were collaborating for quite a long time in making and selling forged documents.
Police raided the Asian’s house after receiving enough evidence about his activities. The forger admitted to his crime and will be handed over to the court shortly.
In Mahayil Asir, security officers arrested three Filipino workers for allegedly manufacturing alcohol and promoting pornographic films and CDs
Police confiscated 12 barrels, each of 20 liters full of alcohol, in addition to several one-liter bottles, which were ready for distribution.
The Filipinos were selling alcohol for SR50 per bottle.
