RIYADH, 20 November 2002 — Interior Minister Prince Naif, who is chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee, yesterday attended a Shoura Council session dedicated to discuss matters related to transportation of pilgrims during the Haj season.
Dr. Hamoud Al-Badr, secretary-general of the Shoura, said the discussions focused on the merits and demerits of keeping the present Car Syndicate, which offers pilgrim transport service, and establishment of a new joint stock company for the purpose.
The talks also dealt with the issue of foreign airlines, which often cause delay in transporting pilgrims and stressed the need for them to abide by the Kingdom’s rules and regulations and fulfill their commitment to pilgrims. Badr said there was an open dialogue between the prince and Shoura members on various issues. The meeting was also attended by Haj Minister Iyad Madani. Earlier, Saleh ibn Humaid, the Shoura’s president said nobody should be allowed to exploit the pilgrims. (SPA)
