JEDDAH, 30 November 2002 — A meeting of the Haj preparatory committees, under the chairmanship of Minister of Health Dr. Osama Shubokshi discussed 17 working papers and focused attention on providing good medical services to pilgrims.

Dr. Shubokshi said in a press statement that the ministry will double the use of small ambulances to 70 and the number of big ambulances to 80.

He said qualified medical staff have been recruited from the United States and Europe to work at the Intensive Care Unit. Besides, 103 nurses were also hired.

He also noted that the ministry proposes to give vaccination to pilgrims who have never been vaccinated.

Dr. Shubokshi also said that a new medical complex will be established in Jeddah. It will include a psychiatry hospital and Al-Amal Hospital. (SPA)
