TABUK, 7 December 2002 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, will distribute the keys of 100 housing units built by Sultan Charitable Foundation among poor Saudi families at a colorful ceremony here today.
Prince Sultan, who is to start an inspection tour of military bases in the northwestern province, will also inaugurate the newly expanded Armed Forces Hospital in the region.
The houses to be given away today are part of the first phase of a charitable housing project being implemented by the foundation in Tabuk. They were constructed at a total cost of SR30 million.
Sultan Charitable Foundation has established similar housing projects in Qahma and Hail to help the poor citizens.
Brig. Fahd Al-Nafjan, director of Armed Forces’ hospital projects in the northwestern province, said Prince Sultan will formally inaugurate Khaled ibn Sultan Medical Studies Center at the Armed Forces Hospital in Tabuk.
“The medical studies center will offer medical and technical courses,” Najfan said, adding that it will provide fellowship to doctors attending higher studies in internal medicine and general surgery. The center has a large hall to hold exhibitions and seminars.
More than 260 doctors have graduated from the center and 350 doctors have attended various training programs. It has been recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons and Royal College of Doctors in Ireland.
