TABUK, 8 December 2002 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, yesterday gave away ownership deeds of 79 housing units to homeless families in Tabuk.
The houses were distributed as part of a SR27 million charitable housing scheme launched by Prince Sultan Charitable Foundation in the region. In the first phase of the project, 21 houses were given away last year bringing the total to 100.
Tabuk Governor Faisal ibn Sultan and the trustees of the foundation received Prince Sultan on arrival at the venue of the function.
Earlier, Prince Sultan formally opened Prince Khaled ibn Sultan Center for Medical Studies in Tabuk.
The center will serve as one of the advanced institutions for medical education in the Kingdom.
Maj. Gen. Kitab Al-Otaibi, director general of the armed forces’ medical services, said in his welcoming address that the center has a capacity to enroll 500 students. The center grants fellowship to post-graduate doctors in medicine and general surgery. It also conducts training courses for hospital technicians.
Prince Sultan conveyed Eid greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd, and Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, to citizens as well as armed forces personnel stationed in the Northwestern region during a ceremony at King Abdul Aziz Military City in Tabuk, Saudi Press Agency reported.
