JEDDAH, 8 December 2002 — A motorbike tour featuring world champion Chris Pfeiffer has received an overwhelming response, attracting thousands of visitors from across the Kingdom, the show’s organizers announced yesterday.
The 21-show tour is sponsored by Red Bull, makers of the world’s leading energy drink. Mohamed Moutaem, brand manager, Red Bull Middle East, said the response they received from the Saudi public for the groundbreaking tour, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, was encouraging. “Jeddah has already proved to be a resounding success, encouraging us to further sponsor landmark events in the region,” he said.
Red Bull is known for its support of extreme sports, and it has been constantly bringing such events closer to the local community, Moutaem said, adding that the success of the current event “further strengthens our commitment.”
Chris Pfeiffer, a 31-year-old German and Guinness Book of World Records titleholder, said he was pleased with the huge turnout at his shows.
“I am very excited to be performing for the Saudi Arabian public for the first time. It is an honor to be welcomed by all of the enthusiastic fans here, as well as experience the warm Arabic hospitality especially during the Eid holiday,” Pfeiffer said.
The tour began in Jeddah on Thursday at the Hamra Center and will continue through tomorrow. The second stop is Riyadh where he will perform at Jarir Parking from Dec. 9 to 14. The last stop will be Fouad Center in the Eastern Province from Dec. 17 to 19.
