JEDDAH, 24 December 2002 — Saudi Arabia has nominated Dr. Nizar ibn Ibrahim Tawfiq for the post of secretary-general of the Geneva-based International Meteorology Organization. Prince Turki ibn Nasser, president of the Department of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, expressed hope that the Kingdom's nominee would be the chosen for the post. He said consultations were under way among Arab, Muslim and Asian countries for supporting Dr.Tawfiq’s candidature. (SPA)
