Tech Data has joined with Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu Seimens, Microsoft, Computer Associates and other IT vendors in a massive regional initiative that aims to beat the summer slump in IT sales. The program, called “Around the World in 60 Days,” was launched on May 18. It focuses on both incentives to the reseller channel and direct end user promotional benefits.

Eliot Shepherd, Tech Data’s marketing director said, “Market trend analysis shows that in the summer, technology sales in the Middle East region drop by an average of 18 percent across the board. We want to cut that down by driving demand in the market. Our aim is to take that summer sales drop down to single digits this year.”

To continue building the campaign momentum among the reseller channel, “Around the World in 60 Days” rewards channel performers and Tech Data staff on a weekly basis through a variety of prizes. The campaign ends with a grand prize to the highest achiever in the form of travel vouchers that will take the recipient around the world. “This is a very exciting proposition for the industry. We are supporting it to the fullest since it introduces new ways of handling challenging seasonal trends,” commented Jon Saunders, regional sales manager, Cisco Systems.

Shepherd concluded, “Together with our partners, Tech Data is determined to deliver market initiatives that underpin profitability and continuity in business for the channel.”
