BEIRUT , 19 September 2003 — Amina Al-Jassim of Saudi Arabia put an innovative slant on the traditional Arab dress when she presented dazzling abayas and flowing robes on the catwalks of Beirut on Wednesday, the third day of the Lux Fashion World (LFW 2003). Currently in its second year, the LFW kicked off on Monday and climaxed with a dinner reception last night.
Amina’s show naturally blends femininity, casualness and glamour. Her individuality is expressed through innovative designs that can be worn with ease and comfort and demonstrate her devotion to the culture of her homeland. To crystallize the glamour of the shows, Damas Jewelry of the UAE joined the catwalk with its collection of elegant diamond jewelry.
The concluding event yesterday was marked by fashion shows featuring Basil Soda, Dani Attrash, Camil Chamoun, David Abi Khalil, Imad Karam, Nicholas Gebran, Roni Richa and Rasha Chic. The dinner was attended by dignitaries from the government and private sector in addition to celebrities from the world of fashion and beauty. Owned exclusively by Lux, the LFW is created and telecast across the region in association with Nathaly’s agency and MBC.
This year, the event featured five world-class fashion shows from Khaled El Masri, Hani El Bihery, Escada Sport, Amina Al-Jassim and Mondi. All fashion shows will be telecast by MBC next month.
Khaled El Masri expressed the symbolism and mystery of the region in the designs he presented on the opening day. Passionate for the Orient, he ensured his designs communicated the Arab identity with historical reference through details, charms and embroidery.
The second night saw Egyptian designer Hani El Bihery showcase elegance and style with a taste of the Orient captured through the glitz of fine touches of haute couture embroidery. Escada’s winter and fall 2003-04 collection highlighted outfits that enhance individual personality through the distinctive playful combinations running through the Escada Sport Fashion collection.
