MADINAH, 28 October 2003 — The administration at the Prophet’s Mosque has made arrangements for iftar meals to be distributed to hundreds of thousands of the faithful who throng the mosque during Ramadan, Al-Watan reported yesterday. Soon after Asr prayers, charitable societies will be permitted to bring iftar food, especially dates, bread, laban and fruit, into the holy mosque. The paper pointed out that the faithful who visit the mosque consume some 200 tons of zamzam each day.
