RIYADH, 8 November 2003 — South Africa’s deputy minister of trade and industry, L. Hendricks, will lead an official delegation to Riyadh on Dec. 9 to sign two bilateral agreements with the Kingdom as part of the Saudi Arabia’s bid for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) early next year.
The Kingdom and South Africa signed in September this year a Memorandum of Understanding between Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, and his South African counterpart M. Patrick Lekota. South African Ambassador Abdulhamied Gabier told Arab News that one of the two agreements to be signed by Hendricks would be for the protection of investments, while the other would be for the avoidance of double taxation to ease the problems of traders and encourage them to enhance bilateral trade.
