HYDERABAD, 8 November 2003 — Telugu Desam Party legislator G. Jaipal Yadav was shot at and seriously injured by the outlawed People’s War Group Naxalites at his native village in Mahbubnagar district on Friday evening.
The MLA, who sustained a bullet injury in his head, has been brought to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences here for treatment.
The police said that the incident occurred when Jaipal Yadav was returning after addressing a meeting in his native village Madugula in Kalwakurthy constituency.
Civil Rights Activist Returns Home
Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) president G. Laxman, who was allegedly kidnapped here last night by persons claiming to be members of “Tirumala Tigers,”returned home yesterday.
Laxman initially refused to meet the media after returning to his quarters.
