JEDDAH, 26 November 2003 — Police broke up a fistfight involving a number of women over a raffle, Okaz reported. Two women from the same family won car prizes at a Jeddah commercial center. The result angered another group of women who protested and vented their anger on the winners. The quarrel led to a number of women sustaining facial and other injuries, according to the newspaper. The center’s security personnel were at first powerless to break up the fight and had to call police, it added. A woman involved in the brawl said the draw was unfairly conducted but the director of the center has denied this.
