MOGADISHU, 29 November 2003 — Somalia Transitional National Government Prime Minister Osman Jama Ali announced yesterday that he had resigned.
“My resignation letter has been accepted by TNG President Abdi Qassim Salad Hassan,” Ali told AFP in an interview at his residence in Mogadishu yesterday.
Ali said he intended to tour Somalia and play a major role in bringing peace to the war-torn Horn of African nation that has lacked an affective central government since Siad Barre was toppled in 1991.
“There is no political complication between me and Salad, as we all dream about is a unified, peaceful Somalia. I shall tour all Somali regions and promote peace,” Ali told AFP.
