JEDDAH, 13 December 2003 — Saudis own property worth more than SR900 billion, topping the list of Arab businessmen, according to a study conducted by the Federation of Arab Banks, Al-Eqtisadiah, a sister publication of Arab News, reported yesterday. The study covering 200,000 businessmen in the Arab world said they owned more than SR3 trillion at the end of last year, with 78,000 Saudi businessmen owning SR903 billion. Businessmen in the United Arab Emirates were in second place with 59,000 businessmen holding a combined wealth of SR600 billion. Kuwait was listed third with 36,000 businessmen and SR367 billion, followed by Qatar, where 185,000 businessmen own SR146 billion. The study found that Arab funds abroad were in the form of bank deposits and investments in economic projects.
