JEDDAH, 17 December 2003 — Preparations are under way for a yearend fiesta on Dec. 26 at the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah.
Organized by the consulate and the OWWA in cooperation with the OFWCC and OFWNet Foundation, the one-day affair is in celebration of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Month.
The event will kick off at 8 a.m. with various sports competitions, including volleyball matches for women composed of four teams. OFWCC chairman Ed Rufino there will also be a business festival to promote Filipino products.
In the night, a dance and singing competition will feature qualifiers in an audition and elimination round that had been scheduled on Thursday and Friday. The elimination round begins at 6 p.m. at the consulate.
Another evening part of the festivity includes a duet singing competition, featuring pairs of young and adult, male and female contestants.
