RIYADH, 23 February 2004 - Air-India should heed the complaints of the passengers who face problems at transit points, especially on their onward journey from Bombay, said Indian Ambassador Kamaluddin Ahmad at the opening of the new office of the airline in Riyadh on Saturday.

"Passengers from Gulf are the most valuable traffic for Air-India," Ahmad said. "The airline earns from the Gulf and loses in the West." Therefore, he said, Gulf passengers should be given better services to ensure customer satisfaction and consolidate the market.

But Senthil Kumar, regional manager of the airline, said the introduction of direct flights to destinations like Trivandrum, Cochin, Calicut and Madras greatly reduced the transit passengers' problems.
