RIYADH, 30 June 2004 — Two banks have donated SR1 million each to the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research, where they are members of the founders council.
Riyad Bank and Samba representatives handed the checks over to Prince Sultan ibn Salman, who is the center’s board chairman.
Prince Sultan also received an SR200,000 donation from Samba for the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA), which he also chairs.
PSCDR spokesman Waleed Al-Deaigy said the SR1 million from Samba was part of an SR5 million pledge.
Money donated is used to fund the 18 different research projects conducted by PSCDR to help disabled children.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador James C. Oberwetter visited the center on Monday, where he was received by Dr. Sultan Al-Sedairy, its interim executive director and other officials.
During the meeting, Al-Sedairy briefed the US envoy on the goals of the PSCDR, which promotes research to prevent disability, provide proper treatment and diagnosis, implement early intervention and improve the lives of the disabled and their families.
