JEDDAH, 13 July 2004 — Prince Sultan ibn Salman, the secretary-general of the Supreme Commission for Tourism, will chair the opening session of the Barcelona Forum for Cultures to be held tomorrow.
Prince Sultan is attending the forum at the invitation of Barcelona governor and chairman of the forum. Senior officials in charge of tourism in a number of countries as well as government ministers and heads of international organizations will attend the forum.
The session headed by Prince Sultan will focus on tourism promotion of tourism as a means of promoting peace, cooperation and the preservation of cultural diversity as a catalyst for sustained development.
Meanwhile, the prince said during a visit to Al-Jouf he considered the region to be one of the greatest potential draws for tourism in the Kingdom. The region, with its rich cultural heritage and unspoilt nature, could serve as a model of tourism development for the rest of the country, he told reporters in Sakaka.
