BHOPAL, 19 July 2004 — Although Abu Salem allegedly secured a fake passport from Bhopal, a Portuguese court has turned down the Central Bureau of Investigation’s request to extradite the Bombay underworld don, but another court of the same country has agreed to extradite Salem’s girlfriend and former Bollywood actress Monica Bedi.
Intelligence and investigation agencies have expressed the hope that Monica Bedi could well be brought to Bhopal for trial in connection with the fake passport scandal.
