ISLAMABAD, 24 July 2004 — The Pakistan Repatriation Council organized a seminar in Islamabad recently to mark the launch of its magazine Hisar and discuss the self-finance scheme for the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh. The self-finance proposal mooted by the PRC envisages the repatriation of the stranded people without any financial burden on the government of Pakistan.
The function was presided over by veteran leader of the Pakistan Movement, Mahmud Ali, who is also the federal minister for Cabinet division. Mahmud Ali said the PRC’s efforts for the repatriation of the stranded people who have been languishing in 66 Bangladeshi camps for over three decades need encouragement and support. He said the issue should be seen in a humanitarian and national perspective.
He said given their contribution to the defense of Pakistan, these patriots will contribute to the development of the country if they are brought back, rather than become a burden on the economy.
