JEDDAH, 9 August 2004 — Professor Solaiman Ali Al-Ali, an expert in self-development and promotion of talents, has emphasized the need to promote the specialization among Saudi youth to bring down the rates of crime and unemployment.
Dr. Ali, who has lectured in the United States, Europe and Gulf countries on the topic, said: “We should hold serious programs to convince the youth on their capabilities and potentials and how to make use of them.”
Ali recently gave a lecture on “Changing failure to success among the youth” at a summer camp organized as part of the activities of the Jeddah tourism festival.
More than 1,500 youths from Jeddah and the neighboring cities of Makkah and Taif attended the lecture. “This kind of informative programs will make tourism festivals both enjoyable and useful,” Ali said.
“The large participation shows that they are really looking for solutions to their problems, especially in the wake of modern developments,” he said.
“Youth in general, especially those in civilized countries, are prone to psychological and social problems. The inclination of some youths toward terrorism shows they don’t want to open their minds and present their views in a decent and civilized manner,” he said.
Ali described self-development and promotion of capabilities a modern topic in the Kingdom and hoped that it would attract a large number of young Saudis as well as administrative and financial agencies and football clubs.
He said he had conducted a number of special programs for various agencies in the Kingdom including the National Commercial Bank, Saudi Telecom, Public Security, the Health Ministry, Al-Ittihad Club and the Shariah Court.
“Building of an enlightened and strong generation demands us to take care of the younger generation and interact with them and understand their requirements, be they in school, house, club and camps,” he explained.
