JEDDAH, 16 August 2004 — Armed robbers burgled a jewelry shop in Dammam on Friday and made off with 30 kilograms of jewelry worth SR1.3 million, Al-Yaum daily reported yesterday.

Ali Al-Nasser, son of the shop’s owner, said they were surprised to find their shop burgled on Friday evening.

Nasser said the burglary might have taken place on Friday between morning and Asr prayers. “The thieves broke into the shop from behind using electrical equipment,” he said, adding that they had made three large holes in the wall. Police have launched an investigation and taken fingerprints.

In another incident, a citizen in Arar had to cut short his holidays and return home after he was informed by neighbors that his house had been burgled.
