JEDDAH, 21 August 2004 — Indian expatriates working at Al-Hamra Sofitel Hotel held a function to mark their country’s Independence Day on Aug. 15. Two senior most Indian staff members, Abdul Hameed and Mohammed Nayeemuddin, who were chief guests, cut the cake as participants sang the national anthem. Anjum Ali, a student of class three at Indian International School-Jeddah, rendered a patriotic song. Mudassir Hussain, sales and marketing manager, presided. Farooq Ansari, Shahnad Kandy, Shamseer, Abdul Rahman, Ganta Narayan, Ehsan Ali, Hassan, Biju Kumar, T.K. Majeed and Syed Kabir presented patriotic songs and cultural items. Tashfeen Syed conducted the proceedings.
