JEDDAH, 21 August 2004 — Two Malayalee writers residing in Saudi Arabia have won silver awards at an international open poetry competition organized by the International Society of Poets in the United States. P.J.J. Antony of Jubail and C.O.T. Azeez of Jeddah progressed through the primary rounds and reached the final, a report said quoting the competition organizers. Thirty-six poets from around the world have reached the final, awards committee chairperson Steve Michel told the winners. Antony got prize for his poem entitled “Battle Eternal” while “Eternal Portraits” brought the same honor to Azeez. Awards were presented during the summer convention of poets conducted in Philadelphia. Antony is a freelance journalist who writes in English and Malayalam. Azeez works in the editorial department of Malayalam News, a sister publication of Arab News.
