JEDDAH, 29 August 2004 — Authorities are investigating how a Pakistani worker, who had run away from his employer in the Eastern Province a year ago, renewed his resident permit from the Passport Department in Riyadh. The Saudi employer had surrendered the worker’s passport to the passport office in Al-Ahsa. When he visited the passport office recently to check the names of his workers, he discovered that the notification on the Pakistan’s disappearance had been removed from the computer, Al-Watan reported.
