JEDDAH, 31 August 2004 — Little did the patrol police officer think that the man who requested his help to open a car in Madinah was about to take him for a ride. “The man sought the officer’s help to open a Caprice car parked in front of a restaurant in Quba, saying he had lost the key,” Al-Bilad reported yesterday. Once the officer opened the car the man got in and sped away thanking him for his assistance. Within a few minutes the officer received a phone call from a citizen, saying his Caprice had just been stolen. Then only did he realize that the clever thief had him steal a car for him.
