BHOPAL, 4 September 2004 — A rose, is a rose, is a rose by any other name ... or size. This has been proved once again by a botanical research center in Indore where the smallest rose in the world — a one-centimeter button rose flower has been grown. According to Pyramid Research Center Director Dr. Sudhir Khetawat, till date roses of different colors, of sizes ranging between 2 to 4 centimeters were known to be smallest in the world. He said the rose bud grown at the center was as small as 0.5 centimeter and the flower one centimeter. The tiny rose has been named “Moti” (pearl).
