JEDDAH, 4 September 2004 — Saudi Arabia plans to construct a new building for its embassy in the Diplomatic Quarter in New Delhi, the Kingdom’s Ambassador to India, Saleh ibn Muhammad Al-Ghamdi said. “Work on the project will start shortly,” he added.
He said he had discussed the matter with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is in charge of urban development projects. The project will include the residence of the ambassador.
A statement issued by the embassy also said that Al-Ghamdi attended a ceremony held at the Milli Islamic University recently on the conclusion of a course for Arabic language teachers in Indian universities.
Addressing the ceremony, the Saudi ambassador urged Muslims to project the true picture of Islam as a religion of peace and fraternity. He gave away certificates to the teachers who attended the course.
