AL-BAHA, 6 September 2004 — Saddam Hussein Al-Ghamdi is sick and tired of going by a name he did not choose for himself. He has done all that is possible to change it. However the civil department does not see any valid reason for his request. An Al-Baha resident, Saddam is of cheerful disposition, a little shy, and has a solid reputation. His father, who is speech impaired, did not think his choice of the name “Saddam” would give his son such a terrible complex. Thus he tried to right his wrong and applied to the civil department with a change-of-name request but they keep telling him ‘not yet’. Saddam Al-Ghamdi says it is very embarrassing to live with the name of Iraq’s deposed despot.
