AMMAN, 6 September 2004 — About 100 prominent Arab economists and businessmen ended a two-day meeting at the Dead Sea resort yesterday by calling on Arab countries to “open their markets” to Palestinian goods as part of an effort to rehabilitate the Palestinian economy, which has been crippled by Israeli military operations over the past four years. “We appeal to Arab countries to open their markets to Palestinian products and facilitate the arrangement of Palestinian trade fairs as a gate for spurring trade exchanges” between Palestinian territories and the Arab world, the conferees said in a communiqué.
