MADINAH, 9 September 2004 — Saudi Telecom Company (STC) caused a three-hour delay for an employee who had told his boss that he would step out for only half an hour, Al-Madinah reported. Abdulhadi Al-Oufi wanted to cancel his mobile number after receiving an SR400 bill. After paying his dues through an ATM machine he went to the STC office to finalize procedures for canceling the service. He was surprised to be told by a STC employee that he cannot cancel the number or the service because he still owed them 5 halalas. Al-Oufi told him to add the ‘pennies’ to any other bill but the employee refused. The citizen was compelled to look for someone with an account to help him out and pay the halalahs. It took Al-Oufi two hours of searching that day but to no avail. It took him an hour the next day to settle the issue.
