RIYADH, 17 September 2004 — A Saudi Royal Air Force pilot died yesterday when his F-15 aircraft crashed during a training exercise in the Eastern Province, a source at the Ministry of Defense and Aviation announced.
The source said that the aircraft fell at 11:40 a.m. in the King Abdul Aziz airbase “while participating in a joint exercise, Gulf Spears, with air forces from other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council,” the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, but the pilot was named as First Officer Mohammed Ahmad Al-Kubaiby, SPA added.
