NEW DELHI, 11 October 2004 — Additional Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, P.C. Pande, will be shifted out of the investigating agency. Pande has been in the thick of the controversy over his role as Ahmedabad police commissioner during post-Godhra riots.
The appointment of Pande to the CBI last year snowballed into a controversy as some of the NGOs petitioned the Supreme Court.
They pointed out that the investigating agency was probing some riot cases, official sources said. Pande would be shifted as director general of civil defense.
