ISLAMABAD, 15 December 2004 — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz yesterday described Pakistan and China as strategic partners and said his visit would give a further boost to diplomatic, political and economic ties between the two countries.
Talking to reporters before leaving for Beijing on an official visit, he praised China for its support in the growth and development of Pakistan.
The prime minister said investment by the Chinese companies in Pakistan was increasing and the two-way trade was on the rise.
During the four-day stay, Aziz will meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao.
This will be Aziz’s first visit to China since assuming the office of prime minister in August.
