RIYADH, 17 December 2004 — Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, has laid the cornerstone for 200 homes to house the poor in Tabuk region.
After meeting with Prince Fahd ibn Sultan, Governor of Tabuk, Prince Alwaleed and Prince Fahd placed the cornerstone for the 200-unit project: 100 units in AlWajh city, 50 units in Bada Center, and 50 units in Abu Algazaz Center. Following the dedication ceremony, Prince Alwaleed signed an agreement with a Saudi contractor that won the tender for the project.
Prince Fahd commended Prince Alwaleed for his humanitarian work throughout Saudi Arabia, and for including Tabuk region in his plans.
The 200 units in the region bring the total number of homes currently under construction and financed by Prince Alwaleed throughout Saudi Arabia to 1,800. This year, Prince Alwaleed established 200 units each in Ar’ar, Makkah and Riyadh.
Prince Alwaleed had pledged to build 10,000 homes over a ten-year period at the rate of 1,000 units per year. Last year, his housing project footprint covered six regions in Saudi Arabia: Aseer (200 units), Hail (100 units), Madinah (200 units), Jouf (200 units), Baha (100 units), and Jizan (200 units).
