JEDDAH, 21 December 2004 — Nearly 100,000 pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom for the upcoming Haj, the Ministry of Haj announced yesterday.
“From the first of Dul Qaada, 95,096 pilgrims arrived in the Kingdom by air, sea and land,” said Dr. Ayman Fatani, director of the Makkah branch of the ministry.
He said 37,333 pilgrims of different nationalities arrived at Prince Muhammad ibn Abdul Aziz Airport in Madinah as of Sunday. King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah received 57,609 pilgrims. Ninety pilgrims arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port while 57 others entered via Al-Hadeetha, Tuwat and Halat Amar entry points in the north.
The Ministry of Haj has mobilized its full resources to serve the pilgrims and all preparations are in place to receive them, Fatani said.
