Canada is rated by the United Nations as number one country in the world to live in which has a great position in the world. The province Ontario is the hub of the country and features many attractions and tourist destinations. The country's second largest city, Toronto, is here as is Ottawa, the capital city of the country and Niagara Falls, one of the country's top attractions. Niagara Falls is one of the wonders of the world.

Father Louis Hennnepen, a priest from the Spanish Netherlands, gave the first written description of Niagara Falls in 1683. He described it as "an incredible cataract or waterfall which has no equal." His words hold very strong and true position.

A small town in Ontario features the world's most popular waterfall. Canada's top most tourist attraction that draws about 12 million people annually. The best part is that is extremely accessible less than two hours drive from Toronto.

This wonderful and awe-inspiring attraction is approximately 15000 years old. There are two cataracts, the accelerating water being sliced into two channels by tiny Goat Island. The U-shaped curve of roaring water is called the Canadian or Horseshoe Falls; the big brother to the smaller American Falls, just stream down. Both are best seen from the Canadian side.

Besides the Horseshoe Falls, Table Rock House has free observation platform and elevators which travel to base of the cliff, where tunnels, grandiosely named the journey behind the falls, lead to points behind the water falls. From the Table Rock House a wide and crowd path leads north along the cliffs beside the river, with the manicured lawns of Queen Victoria park to the left and views over to the American Falls to the right. After a few minutes, turn left up Murray Street and visit the very famous Skylon Tower whose exterior elevators glide up to the observation deck (indoor as well as out door) 160 m (775 ft) above the falls. Amusement level has a large arcade with games and concessions. A special revolving restaurant is also present for a first class dining.

There's no better way to experience Niagara Falls as a 50 m tunnel leads behind the cascade of icy water. One can get out onto the river abroad the Maid of the Mist that cruises straight up to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. The first journey of Maid of the Mist was first made in 1846. A raincoat is provided before the trip. As the boat sails, the mist then turns into rain. Finally, there is nothing but great roaring of water. The experience is both wet and exhilarating.

Clifton Hill is a steep hill lined up with restaurants, arcades, shops and electrical collection of attractions. It has the best collection for all the family. It has bizarre attractions, from the innocuous House of Frankenstein to the Grotesque Voyeurism of the Guinness World of Records Museum. And the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum where one can spy a dog with human teeth and Chinese chap with double number of eye pupils. The Clifton Hill has a carnival like atmosphere. The bright lights and other activities make one feel very nice and there is a lot of attraction for the entire family.

Once it gets dark, the falls are lit up to entertain the crowds, as they have been doing since 1925. One of the North America's largest festivals called the winter festival of lights also takes place every year from November to January.

Other main and big attractions on the Niagara Falls include the Marine Land, which is located near by the falls. A wide range of sea mammals, fresh water fish,

And birds are present. It is a wonderful place for the children as well as adults.

Another place which really needs to be seen when going to Niagara Falls is the Butterfly Conservatory. The Butterfly Conservatory is located only a few kilometers north of Niagara Falls at the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens.
