TAIF, 30 December 2004 — Pakistan International School, Taif, (PIST) will get equipments for its science lab as well as new furniture and transport facilities, Pakistan’s Consul General Masood Akhtar said this while speaking as the chief guest at the school’s 30th annual prize distribution ceremony here last week.
Masood commended the services of teachers saying they are the ones who have always contributed to the nation-building activities. “I’ve very rich and sweet memories of my school days and have always appreciated the role of hard working students and teachers,” he said.
Both Masood and Welfare Attache Dr. Shoaib Akbar congratulated the students who won prizes.
Dr. Muhammad Aslam, chairman of the PIST board of directors (BOD), discussed the contribution of the BOD toward the school’s progress. “BOD’s achievements include the construction of five new rooms, hike in teachers’ salaries and providing furniture.” BOD Vice Chairman Raja Zubair was also present.
School Principal Dr. Hafiz Abdul Khaliq expressed his happiness over the students’ academic achievements and congratulated those who passed with distinction at the last board exam. The students include Jabran Afzal who secured 92 percent marks in the SSC 1 exam, whose achievement has set a record for the school. “During the last couple of years, there has been a marked improvement in the quality of education resulting in increase in the number of new enrollments,” he said.
The event was held at the Ministry of Education hall. Some students spoke on the Saudi-Pak relations. Some others, wearing traditional dresses, sang patriotic songs.
