MANAMA, 13 January 2005 — Six Bahraini policewomen have become the first batch of female law enforcement officials in the country that would evaluate people seeking driving licenses from the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT).
They will be evaluating female as well as male license seekers in driving tests conducted on the grounds of the National Driver Training Center and on the road, before a license is issued.
The six had undergone a three-week intensive training course, before they were certified in a special ceremony yesterday.
Some of them had been selected from among the ranks of the Police Women Directorate, while others were new recruits who had just completed their training.
