MAKKAH, 20 January 2005 — A Gulf pilgrim created a small furor at a police checkpoint when he insisted on entering Makkah with his car and a tent in tow. The car did not have the sticker needed for entering the holy sites, Okaz reported. The pilgrim had performed Haj 15 years ago but because he lives in a remote area with no TV and radio, he had not heard about the developed tent project in Makkah, which started seven years ago. He also had not heard that he should get a permit for himself and his car to enter Makkah for performing Haj. Police detained his car together with the tent in the parking space outside Makkah. He was sent to a local Haj institution to join one of the groups to perform Haj.
