JEDDAH, 20 January 2005 — The National Commercial Bank is making available SR1.5 billion through 900 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the Kingdom during the Eid vacation.
“We expect SR1.5 billion to be withdrawn during the vacation, which marks an increase of 20 percent over last year,” said Al-Sharif Khalid Al-Ghalib, head of the NCB’s customer management group.
The bank’s branches at the three international airports in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam will operate 24 hours.
Around 900 ATMS will offer the alternative service channel bank systems, in addition to 70 machines that will accept deposits and include the latest techniques such as barcodes for general service bills, he said, adding that the NCB is considered the only bank in the Middle East to have this feature.
According to Al-Ghalib, around two million transactions are expected during the vacation, an increase of 23 percent over last year. The bank will provide additional services to its customers who exceed one million in number during the period. They include the telephone banking service that allows transactions like transferring money from one account to another, balance inquiry, bill payments and also services that members of this service are entitled to.
“It’s possible for customers of the business sector to manage exchange trust accounts automatically through the Al-Ahli Internet Service and deal with investment accounts and funds,” he added.
The NCB is the largest regional and national bank with a capital reaching SR6 billion.
The bank has also succeeded in establishing itself as a pioneer in the area of alternative service channels and has thus won many awards for the best bank in electronic banking services, financial management in the Middle East, Islamic services for individuals and best bank in private banking services.
