RIYADH, 25 January 2005 — The Saudi authorities are looking into the case of a Filipino worker reported missing by the Philippine government, an Interior Ministry spokesman has said.

Suelito Leong, 40, was reported missing by a co-worker on Jan. 18, according to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs. He works for the telecommunications firm Detecon Al-Saudia (Detasad).

Interior Ministry spokesman Mansour Al-Turki told reporters on Sunday night that he did not have any information about Leong.

“The issue is being looked into,” Al-Turki said.

Leong has not been heard of since his employer asked him to pick up plane tickets about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from his company’s office on Jan. 11.

The Toyota Corolla car he was driving has also disappeared.

Leong’s relatives, who live in the southern Philippines city of Davao, fear Leong may have been abducted, a Filipino television network reported.
